Our Ministries in the Church

Wednesday In The Word

We welcome you to join us on Wednesday nights at 6:30 PM for our bible study. During this time, we dig into various books of the Bible, and we occasionally study various topics of Biblical interest.

Kingdom Kids

On Sunday mornings, New Salem’s children are involved in biblical lessons that teach children about Jesus and His life. They learn how to see Jesus in the world around them, how to help and serve others, and to apply biblical teachings to their everyday lives through lessons and hands-on activities.

Music Ministry

New Salem offers several music ministry programs: Adult Choir, Praise and Worship Team, and Children’s Choir. If you sing or play an instrument, and are interested in learning more about our music ministries, please contact Bill Kolb.

Student/Teen Ministry

Teen Groups

Children ages 12 and over (Grades 7th – 12th)
We teach the Bible in ways that young people can understand, and help them to apply it to their everyday lives. We ask a lot of questions and present current issues to get them thinking of how the Christian worldview fits in the world around them. This is a fun and interactive program, where young people have a great time as well as learn. Student/Teen Ministry is led by Bill Kolb, our Associate Pastor/Youth/Music Minister.

Music Ministry

New Salem Church offers several music programs - Adult Choir, Praise and Worship Team, and the Children’s Choir.

Sunday School

We meet for Sunday School at 9:15am in the Chapel. Teens in grades 7-12 are welcome to come into the adult Sunday School Class!  We explore a variety of Biblical topics which are taught by our Elders and lay leaders.

Tuesday Morning Prayer Group – Meets from 9:00-10:00 am

Our Tuesday Morning Prayer Group begins with a short devotional on prayer, and then we go to God in prayer, lifting up all of the requests our church has received either through the church service or emailed into us.   We believe that there is power in prayer.

Our Ministries in the Community

At New Salem we do several outreach activities and events throughout the year that help us to spread the Good News of Jesus and give back to the community. Some of these activities are: Nursing Home Singing, Oil Changes for the Community, Stockings for Christmas, Meals for the Hungry, Coats for the City, Trunk or Treat and Bonfire, Building Projects, Toys for Tots, and VBS for kids.

New Salem Church also has a diaper ministry to assist needy families in Chatham County. If you need diapers for a baby/toddler, please call the church (919-542-4832).  Diapers are distributed on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9:00am – 5:00 pm. (Location – 5030 Old Graham Rd., Pittsboro.  We would be happy to assist you.

Our Ministries in the World

New Salem is involved with both domestic and foreign missions. We support a variety of mission organizations that we believe are doing a great job of spreading the Gospel and ministering to people who need care. One of the biggest missions that we participate and support is the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child program. We try to get our whole church involved in packing shoe boxes that are then transferred overseas to people who might not have as much as we have in America, as well as getting a chance to communicate the Gospel to them.  Other missions in which that we give and participate are The Master’s Academy International (TMAI), Anchored in Truth Church Plants, Young Life, Annie Armstrong and Lottie Moon Missions, Pennies for Hunger, The Baptist Children and Retirement Homes, Trans World Radio, Egypt Missions and others.
